With a track record of developing 50+ games across multiple formats based on household IP from Doctor Who to LittleBigPlanet, we are a World Class independent video games developer. The sensitive, creative and intelligent use of Licensed IP has become one of Sumo Digital’s core competencies.
The company has grown exponentially over a period of 14 years from 15, to 450 people spread across our three studios in Sheffield UK, Nottingham, UK and Pune, India making us one of the largest employers in the UK games industry. In 2016 alone, we announced 2 incredible partnerships with Koch Media and IO Interactive, as Sumo began work on both Dead Island 2 and Hitman respectively. In the same year we also announced the development of our debut IP, Snake Pass, coming to market in early 2017.
Previously we have developed flagship 1st party titles for Microsoft – Forza Horizon 2, and Sony – LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3). We follow the opportunities and respond based on our experience, mitigating the risk as much as possible for our clients, whilst delivering the best game we can in collaboration with them.
Sumo Digital was recently announced as the winner of the 'Best Large Independent Studio' award at the 2016 TIGA awards, an award that only goes to compliment our previous DICE and BAFTA award nominations.
